JSI Research & Training Institute,
Inc., is a nonprofit, public health research and consulting
organization that is committed to improving primary health care services
to poor and underserved populations. JSI works to promote health
and wellness, prevent disease, expand access to care and
treatment, and improve health service delivery. Incorporated in
1978, JSI currently operates from seven U.S. and 44
international offices, with more than 375 U.S.-based staff, and
700 host country national field-based staff.
Role in PAIMAN
JSI is the legal and solely
responsible entity accountable to USAID for the successful
fulfillment of the PAIMAN’s intermediate results (IRs) and
overall objectives. As lead partner of the PAIMAN, JSI provides
leadership in all matters of public health and oversees all
technical interventions for the project. JSI is specifically
responsible for the administration of the NGO grants management
program.
JSI is responsible for
administrating the Cooperative Agreement and for accounting and
financial reporting to USAID. JSI’s accounting and financial
instruments are used to facilitate complete collaboration
between all PAIMAN partners, ensuring that PAIMAN is completely
responsive to USAID’s requirements. |

Founded
by the Aga Khan and chartered in 1983 as Pakistan’s first
private university, AKU’s objective is to promote human welfare
in general, and the welfare of the people of Pakistan in
particular, by disseminating knowledge and providing
instruction, training, research and service in the health
sciences, education and such other branches of learning as the
University may determine. It occupies a pivotal place within Aga
Khan Development Network. |

AKU assists with the review and design of curriculum and impact
assessment of PAIMAN trainings. |

Contech

management organization established in the private sector with a
group of committed professionals. Contech strives to improve the health status of people especially women and
children by providing technical assistance in key areas of

Consultants oversees the district health system strengthening
activities. |

Social Marketing |

Greenstar
Social Marketing was established as Social Marketing Pakistan in
1991 as a
non- profit company. Greenstar is a non-governmental
organization working in the health sector and is a major partner
of the Government of Pakistan, providing high-quality access
to health care to low income people. |
Role in PAIMAN
Greenstar is responsible for the private sector component of
PAIMAN, including the development of public-private partnership
models. |

Hopkins University Center for Communications Programs (JHU/CCP) |

|
The Center for Communication Programs (CCP) uses
communication to save lives, improve health, and enhance
well-being. The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
— the oldest and highest ranked school of public health in the
United States — established CCP in 1988 to focus attention on
the central role communication plays in health behavior change.
With a staff of approximately 450, CCP is active in more than 30
countries worldwide as well as in Baltimore. |
Role in PAIMAN
John Hopkins University Center for Communications Programs (JHU/CCP)
is responsible for the design and development of PAIMAN’s
behavior change and communications strategies. |

PAVHNA |

PAVHNA
(Pakistan Voluntary Health and Nutrition Association) is an
umbrella body with over 40 NGOs and CBOs (small community based
organizations) as its members, working in the development field
in Pakistan. Established in 1979, registered at federal and
provincial level, PAVHNA was originally set up with the
objective of improving the nutritional and related health and
socio-economic status of the most disadvantaged sector of
society - women and children.
Role in PAIMAN
PAVHNA is responsible for PAIMAN’s community mobilization
activities in the Sindh districts. |

Council |
| |
|
Population Council, a nonprofit,
nongovernmental research organization established in 1952, seeks
to improve the wellbeing and reproductive health of current and
future generations around the world and to help achieve a
humane, equitable, and sustainable balance between people and
resources.
Role in PAIMAN
The Population Council oversees the management of monitoring and
evaluation component, including operations research and
knowledge management of PAIMAN. |

Save
the Children |
| |
Save the
Children is the leading independent organization creating real
and lasting change for children in need in the United States and
around the world. It is a member of the International Save the
Children Alliance, comprising 27 national Save the Children
organizations working in more than 100 countries to ensure the
well-being of children.
Role in PAIMAN
Save the Children is responsible for the overall coordination
and implementation of field training activities for the public
sector in the ten PAIMAN districts. Save the Children also
oversees the community mobilization activities in the Punjab and
NWFP
districts. |

Commission on Maternal and Neonatal Health (NCMH) |
| |
The National Committee for Maternal Health (NCMNH)
was established in January 1994 by the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
A core committee comprising three members was appointed under the
Chairmanship of the Federal Secretary Health, Government of
Pakistan for “analyzing the problem of high maternal mortality and
morbidity in the country and developing and demonstrating workable
approaches with the objective of lowering the high rate of
maternal deaths”.
Role in PAIMAN
The National Commission on Maternal and Neonatal Health (NCMNH)
has been contracted to strengthen district midwifery schools. |
