Pakistan Initiatives for Mothers and Newborns (Paiman) has decided to extend functional integration of services between the department of Health and Population for minimum of one district each in all the provinces.
Paiman, a USAID funded project organised a consultative meeting on ‘Functional Integration of Services between Ministry of Health and Ministry of Population Welfare’ on Tuesday at a local hotel in Islamabad.
This meeting was co-chaired by the Federal Secretary Health Khushnood Akhtar Lashari and the Federal Secretary Population Welfare Nayyar Agha. The meeting was largely attended by members from both ministries and development partners in addition to the presence of Susan Thouloug and the Chief of Party Paiman Dr. Nabeela Ali.
The Secretary Health during his remarks appreciated the efforts of Paiman in bringing together the two ministries and showed his full support towards the initiative. The secretary Ministry of Population welfare seconded the support of the federal secretary Health and said that his ministry would leave no stone unturned for achieving the objective of functional integration of services.
Dr. Nabeela Ali gave an overview of the Paiman initiatives in the field of ‘Mother & Newborn’ and ‘Child Health and Family Planning’, while Dr. Nadeem Hassan, National Manager Reproductive Health Initiative shared the assessment report of functional integration of services piloted in Rawalpindi. Dr. Javed Chaudhry the Director MNCH and Shireen Sukhan the district representative of health also spoke on the occasion. |
